Larry Wood Honoured as IBL Executive of the Year for 2024
Each year, the David E. Hastings Trophy is given to an executive who has made a lasting impact on their team and the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL). Named in honour of David E. Hastings, a former player and long-time owner of the Guelph Royals, the award celebrates individuals who embody his spirit of dedication and leadership within the league.
The 2024 recipient of the Hasting’s trophy goes to Larry Wood, a man who devoted his life to the game and played a key role in the growth and sustainability of the Hamilton Cardinals. Larry was crucial in shaping the future of the Hamilton Cardinals Rep organization and securing the franchise’s lasting success within the IBL. Known for his calm, steady presence, Larry was often the voice of reason at league meetings.
Although Larry left us in September at the age of 73, his impact on the Hamilton Cardinals and the Intercounty Baseball League will be felt for generations. His dedication, leadership, and passion for the game have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire the organization and the entire league for years to come.
