Hamilton drops fifth-straight to London at home
The Hamilton Cardinals lost to 13-2 to the London Majors on Sunday afternoon at CARSTAR Field at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
London’s starting pitcher, Jose Arias, pitched six scoreless innings, only surrendering two hits. Arias was credited with his fifth win and stays without a loss.
Cardinals’ first-baseman, Josh Niles, hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on the board. Niles’ home run was his fourth of the season, this time right in the left field corner.
Daniel Perrier led the way for the Majors, going four for five with six RBI’s and two homeruns, his first two dingers of the year to the same spot in left field.
Drew Mainprize and Gabe Braun pitched in relief of Hamilton’s starter Sam Turcotte. Turcotte was saddled with his second loss of the season. Mainprize pitched a good three innings, giving up three runs, none of which were earned and struck out four batters. Braun pitched an excellent last four innings, only surrendering two hits and allowing no runs.
Right-fielder, Tyler Duncan, went two for three with a walk and an RBI.
