Hamilton Cardinals sign pitcher Ramon Sanchez for the 2025 season
The Hamilton Cardinals are proud to announce the signing of RHP Ramon Sanchez for the 2025 season.
Sanchez, a 23-year-old prospect from San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, adds both experience and potential to Hamilton’s pitching staff. He signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021 and spent three seasons in the minors, splitting time between the Florida Complex League and the Dominican Summer League. During his professional career, Sanchez recorded 45 strikeouts over 45.2 innings pitched.
He caught the attention of Cardinals management at their November tryout at the Cano Baseball Academy in San Pedro, DR. His slider averaged 2,840 RPM, well above the MLB average of 2,400, and his fastball topped out at 97 MPH.
His best season came in 2023 in the Florida Complex League, where he posted an impressive 2.35 ERA over 15.1 innings. He struck out 15 batters, allowing just 9 hits whilst holding opponents to a .170 batting average. Sanchez also showcased his ability to acquire strikeouts in the Dominican Summer League, recording 19 through 17.1 innings pitched.
