Hamilton Cardinals sign infielder Nicolas Velocci

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the addition of infielder Nicolas Velocci.

Velocci joins the Cardinals following a standout four-year career at McMaster University, where he established himself as one of the top all-around players in OUA baseball. Standing 6-foot-2 and hailing from Newmarket, Ontario, Velocci was a key contributor for the Marauders, showcasing his strong bat.

In 2021, Nicolas Velocci made an immediate impact, batting .353 with a remarkable .542 on-base percentage and an OPS of 1.071, showcasing his ability to get on base and generate offence. He followed that up in 2022 with a solid .361 batting average, adding 9 RBIs, a .444 OBP, and a .917 OPS. In 2023, Velocci continued to perform consistently, hitting .341 with a .431 OBP, 6 stolen bases, and an OPS of .886. His senior season in 2024 saw him reach new heights, finishing with a career-best .393 batting average, a .469 OBP, and a .969 OPS, further solidifying his place as one of McMaster's top players.

Velocci's consistent offensive production, highlighted by his career-best .393 batting average and .969 OPS in 2024, and 17 stolen bases, showcases his versatility and readiness to contribute.
