Hamilton Cardinals Sign Infielder Brandon Nicoll
The Hamilton Cardinals are proud to announce the signing of Canadian infielder Brandon Nicoll.
Originally from Coombs, BC, Nicoll is currently in his senior year at South Arkansas University (SAU), where he has established himself as one of the top Canadian players in NCAA baseball. Earlier this year, he was honored as the SAU Muleriders Outstanding Baseball Player of the Year during the university’s Seventh Annual Mulespy Awards.
As a youth, Nicoll developed his skills with the Langley Blaze, a premier baseball program in British Columbia. His growth as a player has been evident throughout his three seasons with the Muleriders, where he has maintained a remarkable career NCAA batting average of .336 with 38 HRs and 197 RBIs.
In the 2024 season alone, Nicoll appeared in 46 games in the Great American Conference, posting a .328 batting average. His offensive contributions included 58 hits, 12 home runs, 12 doubles, 41 RBIs, and 41 runs scored. Among all Canadians in NCAA Division II baseball, Nicoll’s 12 home runs in the 2024 season rank second, and he is tied for ninth among Canadian collegiate and university players nationwide.
Since 2017, Nicoll has amassed 299 career hits in the NCAA, ranking 10th among Canadians during that period. With a full collegiate season ahead in Spring 2025, he has the chance to climb higher on the list. Fellow Hamilton Cardinal Tyler Duncan currently sits in 9th place with 301 hits during his NCAA career.
“Our Baseball Operations team identified Brandon as a top priority early this offseason. He’s had an outstanding collegiate career, and we believe he will thrive with us in the IBL.” said Cardinals Owner Eric Spearin.
