Hamilton Cardinals Sign Former Colorado Rockies Prospect Yolki Peña for 2025 Season

The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the signing of outfielder Yolki Peña, a former Colorado Rockies prospect.

Originally from San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, the 24-year-old Yolki Peña has been living in Montreal, Quebec, for the past couple years and qualifies as a non-import Canadian player. Peña began his professional career in the Colorado Rockies system, playing three seasons with the DSL Rockies and Grand Junction Rockies. Standing 6’3” and batting left-handed, he showcased a strong ability to get on base with a .414 on-base percentage, 115 walks, and a .273 career batting average over 147 games, while collecting 132 hits and stealing 24 bases.

After his time in the Rockies organization, Peña resumed his career in the Mexico Independent League in 2022 and most recently with the Expos de Sherbrooke in the LBMQ.

“We’re pleased to welcome Yolki to Hamilton after his past two years in Quebec,” said Cardinals Owner Eric Spearin. “His professional experience and offensive contributions will add strength to our lineup, which has been a key focus for us this offseason.”

The Cardinals will kick off their 2025 season at home on Friday, May 16th, against the Brantford Red Sox. Season tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca.
