Hamilton Cardinals Resign Catcher Andrew Johnston
The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the re-signing of catcher Andrew Johnston.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Johnston honed his skills at IMG Academy in Florida during his senior year of high school before continuing his development with the Okotoks Dawgs in the Western Canada Baseball League.
In 2022, at IMG Academy, Johnston posted an impressive .448 batting average, highlighting his consistent hitting ability. He also showcased his power with 9 triples and a .603 slugging percentage, further solidifying his ability to drive the ball.
Johnston’s talent extends beyond North America, representing Team Great Britain in international competition. After a season at NCAA Division I San Jose State in 2023, he returned closer to home, opting to continue his education and baseball career at the University of Guelph.
Johnson joined the Cardinals in 2024, appearing in 18 games and posting an on-base percentage of 0.332. Johnston will return to the Cardinals in 2025, and we look forward to watching him grow as a player and contribute to our success on the field.
The Cardinals will open their 2025 season at home on Friday, May 16, and fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early at CardinalsTickets.ca
