Hamilton Cardinals Re-Sign Zach Cameron for 2025 Season
The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the re-signing of relief pitcher Zach Cameron for the 2025 season.
A Hamilton native, Cameron solidified himself as a key piece of the Cardinals’ bullpen during his return to the Intercounty Baseball League last year. In 2024, the right-hander posted a 2.84 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 12.2 innings in the regular season and excelled in the playoffs, recording a 2.07 ERA across three appearances. Before joining the Cardinals, Cameron debuted in the IBL with the Welland Jackfish in 2021, where he posted a 2-0 record with a 2.81 ERA and two saves.
Cameron’s baseball roots run deep in the Hamilton community. A graduate of Bishop Ryan High School and the Fieldhouse Pirates program in Burlington, he went on to star at Niagara University, helping lead the team to its first-ever MAAC Championship. Over five collegiate seasons, he struck out 176 batters across 167.2 innings, finishing with a 3.65 career ERA. His standout senior year earned him MAAC Relief Pitcher of the Year honors after leading the league with 10 saves, ranking 9th in NCAA Division I.
Beyond his on-field success, Cameron is dedicated to giving back to the baseball community in the local area. He currently teaches pitching lessons at StrikeZone Training in Burlington and served as a coach at the Cardinals Kids Camp in 2024.
“Zach is one of the most accomplished collegiate pitchers to come out of Hamilton and is now quickly making a name for himself in the IBL,” said Cardinals Owner Eric Spearin. “While his impact on the mound is undeniable, what truly stands out is his dedication to giving back. Zach was an outstanding leader at our youth camps last summer, and his passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of baseball players in the community where he grew up is truly inspiring.”
The Cardinals will open their 2025 season at home on Friday, May 16th, against the Brantford Red Sox. Season tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca.
