Hamilton Cardinals Re-Sign Tanner Rempel for 2025 Season

The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the re-signing of first baseman Tanner Rempel for the 2025 season.

Originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Tanner Rempel will enter his third season with the Cardinals in 2025. Over 55 career IBL games, including playoffs, he has recorded 51 hits, 14 doubles, 3 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 36 runs scored, with a .279 batting average. Known for his leadership and upbeat attitude, Rempel has been a vital presence both on and off the field.

In 2024, Rempel transitioned from catcher to first base, a move that paid off significantly for the Cardinals. He delivered stellar defensive performances while continuing to produce offensively. Highlighting his 2024 campaign, Rempel was named the HRD Player of the Week on June 26, after going 5-for-9 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored in two key wins over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Before his time with the Cardinals, Rempel played his youth baseball with the Abbotsford Cardinals and Team Canada. He later attended Colorado Mesa University, where he excelled as a catcher with a career .440 on-base percentage and a .363 batting average. Across five seasons at Mesa, he tallied 11 home runs, 29 doubles, and 94 hits.

“Remp brings unmatched energy to our organization and has an incredible ability to lift everyone’s spirits,” said Cardinals Owner Eric Spearin. “He quickly established himself as the league’s top defensive first baseman last year, and we are excited to have him in that role all season long”.

The Cardinals will open their 2025 season at home on Friday, May 16th, against the Brantford Red Sox. Season tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca.
