Cardinals Snap Losing Streak

HAMILTON – Hamilton snapped its five-game losing streak against an unlikely opponent.

Dennis Dei Baning went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three steals for the Cards (12-14), who beat Chatham-Kent 6-1 on Friday at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. Not only did Hamilton end its own streak, but it also stopped the Barnstormers’ four-game win streak.

Luis Bernardo, Tanner Rempel and Josh Niles drove in Hamilton’s other runs. Brandon Nicholson singled and swiped a pair of bases.

Takaki Eguchi (6-2) went the distance on the mound for Hamilton, allowing a run on six hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Spencer Marcus went 2-for-5 and knocked in Chatham’s only run. Trent Sillett singled twice.

Cam O’Reilly (2-3) gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits in five innings to take the loss. He walked five and didn’t register a strikeout as the Barnstormers fell to 12-16.
