Cardinals defeated on the road by Majors
The Hamilton Cardinals lost 7-0 to the London Majors (23-8) on Friday night at Labatt Park.
The Majors pitching staff threw a combined shutout while surrendering just eight total hits.
Cardinals’ second baseman, Tristan Osika (.250 AVG) was two for four on the night.
Leftfielder, Anthony Buonaiuto (.302 AVG) was the only other Hamilton player to record multiple hits with two singles of his own.
Fernando Fernandez got the win for the Majors after going five and two thirds innings, giving up no runs on five hits while striking out two and walking one batter.
London’s shortstop, Taylor Wright, drove in three runs on three hits including a two-run homer in bottom of the seventh inning. Designated hitter, Cleveland Brownlee also hit his 12th homerun of the season for the Majors in the fifth inning.
Tristan Osika, Luis Jean, and Josiah Devapalan made two 4-6-3 double plays in the game for Hamilton in the seventh and eighth innings.
Relief pitcher, Stefan Strecker, continued his hot streak, pitching another scoreless inning and improving his ERA to 0.75 in 12 innings this year.
